Mayor Fenty Has Proposed a Reduction of $13,000,000 from the Sustainable Energy Trust Fund!!!Mayor Fenty has proposed a dramatic $13,000,000 reduction to the “Sustainable Energy Trust Fund” and with it, a decrease in the number of rebate incentives available for installing sustainable energy technology in homes. This could dramatically slow down the adoption of sustainable energy technology in the District of Columbia as well as prevent you or your customers from receiving their rebate for installing sustainable energy technology! Specifically, in the FY 2011 budget proposed by the Mayor, the Sustainable Energy Trust Fund, which is supposed to have approximately $22,000,000, is being reduced by over $13,000,000, which will force reductions in spending for items such as professional services for residential weatherization and efficiency program and rebate incentives. Even more troubling is that the Sustainable Energy Utility, created to administer the Sustainable Energy Trust Fund is being reduced by $6,500,000, seriously threatening the District’s overall ability to support sustainable energy adoption by its residents. On Friday, April 30, 2010 at 12noon at the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Room 120, the Committee on Government Operations and the Environment of the D.C. City Council will be hearing from the director of the District Department of the Environment.
